Forget Champions League, it’s the Championship that counts.

Championship, Not Champions LeagueTonight sees West Ham head to Southampton, it’s top versus second in the Championship.

I want to feel confident after our promising 4-0 win against Blackpool on Saturday, but something tells me that the Hammers will come crashing back down to earth with a bump. My concern is based mainly on the fact that Southampton have the best home form in the entire country – couple this with the fact that historically West Ham have built up my hopes only to dash them at the crunch point. Southampton are currently on a 16 win home record, that’s astonishing, but it has to come to and end at some point. (Just probably not tonight!)

A win tonight should see us go top, unless Middlesbrough win with a huge margin. To see us top of the league will be a huge boost for the team, and to be honest, a huge surprise to the fans.

I’ve seen them play at Upton Park twice already this season, and they were crap in both, losing to lowly Aldershot and then losing to Ipswich – I considering taking up the kids for a quid offer last Saturday against Blackpool, but I thought I wouldn’t bother as I’m clearly their unlucky mascot. How right I was.

So can West Ham keep their unbeaten away record going tonight against the Saints ?
Big Sam Says :

“At the very least, when we finish that game, let’s make sure we still have our precious unbeaten record.”

Don’t let us down Sam, not now.
